ORAFOL Expands Headquarters in Oranienburg: Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Production Facility Hall 14

For more than three decades, the ORAFOL Group has stood for industrial growth, technological progress, and entrepreneurial spirit at its Oranienburg location. Since reunification, the company has evolved from a former state-owned enterprise of the GDR into the most successful industrial family business in Eastern Germany, with an international presence and production and sales locations worldwide. Today, ORAFOL employs 3,000 people globally and ranks among the international technology leaders in numerous market segments.

With the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone for the new “Hall 14” production facility at its headquarters in Oranienburg, the company is now marking the next major milestone in its long-term growth strategy. The new production hall is part of the company-wide “ORAFOL Roadmap 2030 – Shaping the Future,” through which ORAFOL is making targeted investments in the expansion of production capacities, new technologies, and international locations.

The roadmap includes investments totaling 235 million euros at the Oranienburg headquarters for the period from 2026 to 2030. In addition, there are expansion projects in Europe, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. In doing so, ORAFOL underscores both its close ties to its home state of Brandenburg and its commitment to further expanding its international competitiveness in the long term.

Ambitious New Industrial Building at ORAFOL Headquarters

The new Hall 14 is being constructed in the southwestern section of the ORAFOL plant grounds. Due to the unique geometry of the property along the street “An den Dünen,” the new building will be divided into two sections of varying lengths, thereby making optimal use of the available space.

Key project figures:

  • Footprint: approx. 4,835 m²
  • Gross floor area (GFA): approx. 7,595 m²
  • Gross volume (GV): approx. 60,300 m³
  • Use of approximately 600 precast reinforced concrete elements

At the heart of the new facility are highly functional production areas with a total floor area of more than 2,400 m². The facility’s structure is precisely tailored to the future plant technology of ORAFOL. The new building is complemented by a compact, three-story office wing on the west side of the structure. Naturally lit office and hallway areas create modern working conditions and complement the functional production spaces.

Investments in Growth and the Future

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Dr. Holger Loclair, Chairman & CEO of the ORAFOL Group, reflected on the company’s beginnings following German reunification:

“In 1995, we laid the first cornerstone here on this site—back then under the motto: ‘A dream comes true.’ Today we can say: This dream continues. ORAFOL never waited for so-called thriving landscapes to emerge. We began building them ourselves—step by step and hall by hall.”

Since 1995, the headquarters in Oranienburg has been expanded almost without interruption. There alone, ORAFOL has invested more than 800 million euros over the past three decades. Worldwide, investments now total over 1.2 billion euros. What began as a small business has grown into an international group of companies with 19 subsidiaries and 33 locations worldwide today.

With the production area in Hall 14, ORAFOL is specifically strengthening its Oranienburg headquarters as the group’s global technology center and investing in the installation of new, globally unique production technologies developed in-house. In doing so, the family-owned company also underscores the confidence it places in Brandenburg as an industrial location for its own long-term technological direction.

Minister-President Dr. Dietmar Woidke emphasized: "The groundbreaking ceremony for Hall 14 marks another important milestone in forward-looking and sustainable growth. ORAFOL’s planned investments of €235 million by 2030 represent a strong commitment to its headquarters in Oranienburg and to the state of Brandenburg. For 35 years, this traditional family-owned company has stood for genuine world-class innovation. Every day, the ORAFOL team demonstrates how highly automated manufacturing can successfully operate at the cutting edge of technology. As one of the region’s most important employers, ORAFOL also assumes outstanding social responsibility within our community. I would like to thank ORAFOL for its strong confidence in our location and wish the company continued success, innovative spirit, and prosperity in the years ahead."

As early as 2025, ORAFOL had announced investments totaling 150 million euros through 2027. With the now-expanded “Roadmap 2030,” the company is sending a strong signal of long-term stability and job security—both for its own employees and for the company’s partners.

The ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for Hall 14 took place in the presence of Minister President Dr. Dietmar Woidke and Martina Klement, Minister for Economic Affairs, Energy, Climate Protection, and European Affairs of the State of Brandenburg.
