Minimize heat gain on glass surfaces: ORAGUARD® HelioShield – spectrally selective solar protection films from the Functional Films business unit
Oranienburg, March 2026 – ORAFOL Europe GmbH is establishing a new business unit Functional Films and, at the same time, reorganizing its sales operations internally at its headquarters in Oranienburg. With this move, ORAFOL is taking another important step in the strategic development of the company into an international high-tech provider of specialty films and, additionally, functional films.
At the heart of the realignment is the introduction of a new divisional structure in sales. The previous European sales units—Graphic Solutions, Reflective Solutions, and Adhesive Tape Systems—will henceforth be organized as business units and grouped into two divisions: Material Solutions and Industrial Solutions. Dr. Sylvia Lucht (Executive Vice President EMEAI & Material Solutions) and Carsten Böhmer (Executive Vice President Industrial Solutions) will head the two divisions. The new structure has been in effect since March 1, 2026, and will be gradually implemented in an adapted form at the international subsidiaries as well.
At the same time, a completely new business unit, Functional Films, is being created to reflect the growing strategic importance of technologically sophisticated functional films in the company’s portfolio.
The establishment of this new business unit is closely linked to the technological development of the corporate group. Following the integration of extrusion specialist NUPRO LLC in 2021 and the acquisition of a stake in sputtering specialist Group M.A.M. in 2024, ORAFOL has systematically built up key competencies in the field of high-performance functional films and integrated them into its own value chain.
Today, ORAFOL masters the core processes in the development and manufacture of functional films—from the extrusion of thermoplastic polyurethane films through modern coating and lamination processes to high-precision sputtering technology. This vertical integration expands the range of customized functional films that specifically combine physical, optical, and protective properties to meet the highest quality and performance requirements.
The product portfolio includes, among other things, spectrally selective and reflective solar protection films as well as TPU-based paint protection films (PPF), which are used in particular in demanding industrial and automotive applications.
With the new Functional Films business unit and the introduction of the new divisional structure, ORAFOL underscores its commitment to further driving the transformation from a speciality film manufacturer into a globally active provider of highly advanced material and technology solutions. The structural changes at ORAFOL Europe simultaneously create a robust organizational foundation for the group’s continued growth.
