Focus on groundbreaking investments and new technologies: Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs Keller visits ORAFOL

F.l.t.r. Catherine Loclair (Senior Vice President Corporate & Legal Affairs), Daniel Keller (Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy, and Climate Protection), Dr. Holger Loclair (Chairman & CEO of the ORAFOL Group)

Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy, and Climate Protection, Daniel Keller, visited the headquarters of the international ORAFOL Group in Oranienburg. The focus of the discussion with Dr. Holger Loclair, shareholder and managing director of the family-owned company, and Catherine Loclair, Senior Vice President Corporate & Legal Affairs, was on the progress and prospects of the current 2025–2027 investment cycle, which has a total volume of €110 million.

Back in March 2025, Minister Keller and Dr. Holger Loclair had already discussed the economic policy framework and the future of small and medium-sized enterprises in Brandenburg during an initial personal exchange – a conversation that specifically led to the investment decision for an additional production hall. ORAFOL increased its investments by an additional €40 million. Implementation of the production area in Hall 14 will officially begin on December 1, 2025. Planning has been completed. The next step will be to prepare the construction site.

ORAFOL confirms growth at its Oranienburg site in Brandenburg

During today's meeting, Minister Keller and Dr. Loclair emphasized the central importance of fast and efficient approval procedures: In the current economic situation, companies such as ORAFOL that are willing to invest should not be held back. With its decision to continue investing heavily in the future, ORAFOL is sending a clear signal to its home region in its 35th anniversary year. The company's management and the state of Brandenburg are pursuing the common goal of strengthening industrial innovation, sustainable technologies, and regional growth.

Dr. Holger Loclair emphasized: “We at ORAFOL do not need subsidies. We have the resources and we have the ideas to grow in the long term on our own – here in Oranienburg and worldwide. At the interface with Brandenburg's economic policy, we only need the certainty that we are looking in the same direction. And that is currently the case. I would like to thank Minister Keller for his confidence in our performance and for his focus on economic policy measures for SME growth.”

Focus on climate protection: Minister learns about ORAFOL sun protection films

During his visit, Minister Keller also gained insight into the development of highly efficient spectral-selective sun protection films, which ORAFOL has had in its portfolio since acquiring a stake in the Belgian specialty film manufacturer Group M.A.M. These films reduce energy consumption in buildings by up to 30 percent and make an important contribution to CO₂ reduction. The new ORAGUARD® HelioShield technology reflects UV and IR radiation almost completely and increases both energy efficiency and the quality of life in buildings and vehicles.

New “Hall 14” production area strengthens automation, efficiency, and technological leadership

With the construction of the new Hall 14, which will be built on the factory premises by the end of 2027, ORAFOL is further increasing its level of automation and digitalization. The new manufacturing technologies are “Made in Germany,” highly efficient, and unique in Europe. These and other investment measures by ORAFOL at its headquarters are aimed at securing the long-term competitiveness of the plastics specialist and continuously developing the Oranienburg location as the innovation and decision-making center within the group of companies.

Daniel Keller emphasized: "I was very impressed by my visit to ORAFOL. I was able to see for myself how the future of the company is being shaped here with great innovative strength and strategic investments. As an internationally active family business, ORAFOL is for me both an industrial flagship for Brandenburg and an example of loyalty to the location and entrepreneurial responsibility. At the same time, ORAFOL is making an important contribution to the energy efficiency of buildings and thus to climate protection with the development of state-of-the-art sun protection films. I would like to express my gratitude for the enriching and trusting exchange with the management and assure you that the state of Brandenburg is very interested in the expansion of ORAFOL at its Oranienburg location. We will support this process to the best of our ability."
